Niagara Falls to be illuminated in colors of Bulgarian flag for the first time

In honor of the Day of Liberation of Bulgaria - March 3, Niagara Falls, which every night is illuminated in different colors, will be illuminated in the colors of the Bulgarian national flag. The initiative on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and Canada is organized by the Consulate General of Bulgaria in Toronto, the press center of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reported.

The light show on March 3 will be take place between 22:00 and 22:15 Canadian time (05:00 - 05:15 Bulgarian time) and can be seen both from the Canadian and the US side. It can also be followed directly on the Facebook page of the Consulate General in Toronto.

Diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and Canada were officially established on June 30, 1966. In 1967 a Bulgarian embassy was opened in Ottawa and in 1976 the Bulgarian consulate general started operating in Toronto. Following the democratic changes in Eastern Europe, Canada's interest in the region has been growing. On December 1, 2017, the visa restrictions for short-term stay on the territory of Canada for all Bulgarian citizens were lifted.
