Two liver transplants were performed at Lozenets Hospital and one kidney transplant operation at Aleksandrovska Hospital on February 26, it was reported. Two children, aged 1 and 7 had liver transplants and a kidney transplant operation was performed on a 48-year-old man. The patients are in good general condition, the medical institutions announced.

Due to the lack of compatible recipients in the Bulgarian list of those waiting for transplantation, a heart was provided to Hungary through Eurotransplant, BTA reported.

The organ donor was a 29-year-old man from Gorna Oryahovitsa in brain death. The Ministry of Health thanks the relatives of the deceased young man for the humane act, offering their condolences to the family.
