Successful organ transplantations and heart donation through Eurotransplant

Two liver transplants were performed at Lozenets Hospital and one kidney transplant operation at Aleksandrovska Hospital on February 26, it was reported. Two children, aged 1 and 7 had liver transplants and a kidney transplant operation was performed on a 48-year-old man. The patients are in good general condition, the medical institutions announced.

Due to the lack of compatible recipients in the Bulgarian list of those waiting for transplantation, a heart was provided to Hungary through Eurotransplant, BTA reported.

The organ donor was a 29-year-old man from Gorna Oryahovitsa in brain death. The Ministry of Health thanks the relatives of the deceased young man for the humane act, offering their condolences to the family.
