The amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code and the Judiciary Act submitted to the Parliament take away our functional immunity. This is stated in a statement of the prosecutors, investigators and employees of the Appellate Specialized Prosecutor's Office and the Specialized Prosecutor's Office. That is why the magistrates have gone out on a silent protest in front of the buildings of the Judicial Courts. According to them, the proposed amendments contradict the Constitution and the Constitutional Court has already ruled on the matter.

In letters to the President and the Speaker of Parliament, the Association of Prosecutors in Bulgaria states its negative opinion that these amendments pose a threat to the rule of law and the separation of powers and are an inadmissible attempt at political interference in the independent judiciary.
