Boutique rakia beverages with saffron and truffles attract the greatest interest at the rakia festival, which takes place this weekend in the capital. These non-traditional drinks were born in the period of the lockdown to the delight of those who consumed them, according to the organizers of the forum.

"My favorite motto is that the queen of drinks in the Balkans is rakia. We are used to drinking rakia on both sad and happy occasions", says Iliana Danovska from Rakia and Spirits Fest Sofia.

The festival presents the best producers of rakia from the Balkans. Nearly 30 exhibitors are participating. According to one of them - Martin Kirkov, the secret of good rakia is in the way it is brewed.
