The 68th edition of the professional bicycle race "The Tour of Bulgaria" begins today. The race starts in Bulgaria’s capital Sofia at 6 pm near the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral. Competitors will start at intervals of 30 seconds which will enable the audience to get acquainted with the participants at this year’s edition of "The Tour of Bulgaria".
Later, the competitors will cycle through Borovets resort, Plovdiv, Beklemeto Pass, Troyan, Shipka Pass, Sliven, Burgas and Karnobat. They will finish in the town of Gabrovo on July 5. The athletes will cover nearly 770 kilometers. The first "Tour of Bulgaria" was organized in 1924.
