Milen Mitev was elected for the post of director general of the Bulgarian National Radio with 4 votes from the Council for Electronic Media (CEM) in a procedure earlier today.
Mitev, who was temporarily running the BNR after Andon Baltakov's resignation, was elected in competition with another two candidates - Mitko Dimitrov and Ivo Todorov. The member of CEM who voted in favour of Mitev's candidacy explained that they were faced with the dilemma of whether to prefer Mitev or Todorov. They justified their choice with Mitev's in-depth strategy for the development of the public service media, as well as with his good administrative and legal training.
"In Milen Mitev's strategy for development, the proposed goals and solutions are feasible, realistic and refer to a change in the model of funding of public service media in general", commented CEM's chairperson Betina Zhoteva.
In presenting his management programme, Mitev defined as his main priority the translation of the traditional advantages and values of radio in the digital medium.
