"This museum is not only a cultural monument and a valuable historical site, but it is the heart and soul of our village." That is how the residents of the village of Kakrina near Lovech, motivate their initiative to renovate the center of their village and the area around the Kakrina Inn Museum. The result is already visible. The center of the picturesque village has acquired friendlier looks thanks to modernized infrastructure and landscaping and expects more tourists.
We recall that one of the first museums dedicated to Vasil Levski is situated in the village. This is the so-called "Kakrina Inn",which gave shelter to prominent revolutionaries and fighters for the Liberation of Bulgaria from Ottoman rule.
In morning of December 27, 1872, Vasil Levski, the Apostle of Freedom, was captured at this place. Today, in the yard of the "Kakrina Inn" you can see a fence similar to the one that Levski tried to jump over to save himself from the Ottoman guards. The monument to the immortal hero rises nearby. The complete restoration of the inn has also been completed.
