Bulgaria has already received the first shipment of child-friendly Covid-19 tests for students from 1 to 4 grade. The child-friendly tests have been distributed to nine districts in Bulgaria. Today, tests will be distributed in the districts of Dobrich and Sofia, said Ognyan Ivanov, Director of the National Logistics Center of the Bulgarian Red Cross in the village of Lozen. The tests will be stored in the warehouse of the Bulgarian Red Cross after their arrival in Bulgaria. According to Bulgaria's caretaker Minister of Education and Science Nikolay Denkov, Bulgaria has enough tests for one month. Covid-19 tests will not be made at school, if coronavirus morbidity falls below 250 cases per 100,000 people.
Parents of students from first to fourth grade must declare by 12 pm on Monday, November 8, whether they give consent for their children to have Covid-19 tests.
The latest proposal envisages that Covid-19 testing be conducted in the classroom by medics, teachers, or non-pedagogical staff appointed by the school principal. In this regard, the trade union “Education" with Podkrepa Confederation of Labor notes that 87.3% of teachers are not ready to test students from lower grades. Moreover, the majority of parents want to test their children with child-friendly tests themselves.
