Caroling groups from Sliven district (Southeastern Bulgaria) sent a virtual greeting to Bulgarians abroad, BTA reported. For the second year running, the orgenizers of the event (Community Donation Fund Sliven) are sending their Christmas blessing to Bulgarians living in all parts of the globe.
The organizers aim to promote the folklore richness of this Bulgarian region through blessings for health and prosperity. There are caroling groups in all villages that still keep the Bulgarian traditions. Christmas caroling aims to protect people from evil and bring fertility.
The idea about the virtual caroling was born because of the coronavirus pandemic and the inability of carolers to go from house to house, and because many Bulgarians living abroad celebrate away from family and friends.
