Slavi Trifonov says North Macedonia should keep to agreements with Bulgaria

Slavi Trifonov, leader of "There is Such a People", one of the co-ruling parties, has proposed that Sofia lift the veto on the start of Skopje's EU membership talks under two conditions.

"On January 10, there will be an Advisory Council at the President and the topic is North Macedonia as everyone is exercising pressure on us to give green light. If the Americans want North Macedonia in the EU so much, then the citizens of Bulgaria, like the citizens of most EU countries, should be able to go to America without visas. As we are a full member of the EU, Bulgaria must immediately become a member of the Schengen area, too. The United States and the European Union want us to be loyal partners, so they should be loyal to us," Trifonov wrote on his Facebook page.

The politician later added to his post that the Republic of North Macedonia must comply with all points of the Treaty of Friendship, Good Neighborliness and Cooperation, which it has signed with Bulgaria, including everything related to the history of the country.
