President Rumen Radev continues the meeting of the National Security Advisory Council, dedicated to the policy towards North Macedonia against the backdrop of a blocked start of negotiations for membership of the neighboring country in the EU. The topic is: "Integration of the Western Balkans into the European Union. Bulgaria's role in the enlargement of the Union and in the process of stabilization and association of the Republic of North Macedonia and Albania". Bulgaria’s ambassador to Skopje Angel Angelov has also taken part in the meeting.

Prior to the meeting, Deputy Foreign Minister Irena Dimitrova said that she expected participants to leave the Council with a joint position, especially in view of the forthcoming visit of Prime Minister Kiril Petkov to Skopje on January 18.
