Sofia municipality is to hold a public discussion, at 3 PM on 18 February on the WEBEX online platform, on taking out a loan from the European Investment Bank for the extension of the Sofia metro, Deputy Mayor Doncho Barbalov has announced. The discussion will also be streamed live by the municipality on its YouTube channel.
The loan is for EUR 195.5 million, 56 million of which for the 3 km section, plus 3 metro stations from Hadzhi Dimitar to Levski residential area. The 6 km. diameter to Tsarigradsko Shose with 6 stations, will cost EUR 139.5 million.
47% of the money for the two lines will come from European funding under the recovery and resilience plan. The rest will be co-financed by the municipality via the loan. No debt security is envisaged.
