Bulgaria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Teodora Genchovska is taking part in the EU Foreign Affairs Council special meeting in Brussels on the Russian military invasion of Ukraine.
“Bulgaria strongly supports severe sanctions in response to the Russian military aggression against Ukraine, including sanctions against the Security Council of the Russian Federation and President Putin. The sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders is a fact which is not subject to negotiations, Minister Genchovska said.
The Council approved the legal acts for the new package of sanctions against the Russian Federation, which include the banking sector, high-level natural and legal persons, oligarchs. Additional restrictions arte envisaged for Belarus because of its assistance in the Russian military aggression.
