Almost 200 people gathered in front of the Presidency building in Sofia to demonstrate their support for Ukraine, and called on the Bulgarian government to take a firm stand on the military conflict.

The protesters are organizing a crisis centre for the women and children of Ukraine. The participants in the demonstration expressed their concern for friends and family in Ukraine who are under heavy fire and whose lives is at risk.

Demonstrations of solidarity with Ukraine also took place in Burgas and in Plovdiv. Later, as a sign of solidarity, citizens, organized by Amnesty International-Bulgaria, expressed their support in front of the Ukrainian embassy building, bringing flowers, yellow tulips and children’s toys. The participants lit candles in memory of the people killed in the military operation in Ukraine.
