GERB opposition party has requested a hearing of Prime Minister Kiril Petkov in parliament over the proposal by Deputy Prime Minister Korneliya Ninova for force majeure to be declared in all intercompany contracts because of the war in Ukraine. According to the GERB parliamentary group, such a decision would put the legal system at risk of crashing, and would jeopardize the work of business operators.

According to Korneliya Ninova, the decision to declare force majeure would allow for deferring deadlines and would prevent contractual penalties. The proposal is for the force majeure period to be in place as of 24 February until the end of March and to be valid in all sectors of the Bulgarian economy.
