Bulgaria welcomes 2,500 more Ukrainian refugees

125,500 Ukrainian citizens have entered Bulgaria since the beginning of the war in Ukraine. 58,000 of them have remained in the country, 2,500 more than yesterday. Temporary protection has been granted to 16,220 people, and those accommodated in hotels are almost 40,000, according to the data of the unified information portal "Bulgaria for Ukraine".

A new round of talks between Russia and Ukraine will be held in Istanbul between March 28 and 30. Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in an interview for an independent Russian news media that Kyiv was ready to discuss neutrality in peace talks with Russia. “Security guarantees and neutrality, the non-nuclear status of Ukraine- we are ready to do that”, said President Zelensky and added that Kyiv was ready to give Russian an official language status.  

New fires have broken out around the Chernobyl nuclear site, Ukraine’s authorities announced. Ukraine called for “demilitarization” of the sector under the aegis of the United Nations.

The Ukrainian army has pushed back 5 attacks in Donetsk and Luhansk. Russia has been forced to withdraw two battalion tactical groups after suffering heavy losses, the General Staff of Ukraine’s military announced.

A big charity concert named “Solidarity with Ukraine. We are with You!” took place downtown Sofia on Sunday evening. Thousands of Bulgarians flooded Independence Square to show support for Ukraine. They wore Bulgarian and Ukrainian national flags. The charity events in support of Ukraine continue. On March 28, the Bulgarian National Radio and the Bulgarian National Television are organizing a charity concert entitled “Together for Ukraine”.
