Bulgaria's Prime Minister Kiril Petkov says there are no secret agreements for North Macedonia

As Prime Minister, I have no right in any way, nor will I make agreements, we have a framework position and a declaration on North Macedonia. This was stated by Prime Minister Kiril Petkov during the parliamentary control.

He was asked whether talks are under way to accelerate a change in Bulgaria's position on North Macedonia's EU membership talks. Any decision must be made with full unification of the ruling coalition and the opposition. No concrete decision will be made without the sanction of the parliament, Petkov assured.

The current situation in Ukraine has made the case even more delicate. The security of the Western Balkans is of great importance for the Bulgarian state.

We must approach these decisions with great responsibility, the Prime Minister added.
