Bulgarians in Chicago hold first Bulgarian parade dedicated to May 24

10 Bulgarian Sunday schools from the Chicago area, 20 cultural and educational organizations, teachers and students from Bulgarian schools in Indianapolis, Indiana, children and adults dressed in Bulgarian national costumes carrying Bulgarian flags, flowers and plenty of festive mood. This is how the first Bulgarian parade in the Chicago region took place on May 22 (Sunday).


The procession started from the Elk Grove High School and reached Rotary Park, where it grew into a fair with more than 2,000 Bulgarians. 
The dance groups "Horo", "Vereya", "Vivanov" competed, the orchestras "101 bagpipes Chicago" and "Gurbetchii", the violinist Svet Radoslavov, Jersey Girls ensemble and the duo Minkovi took part in the festivities.


One of the most watched TV channels - ABC gave a short coverage to the event in its central news programme, the correspondent of the Bulgarian National Radio in Chicago, Elena Tsaneva, reported.
