Interior Ministry proposes stricter rules for foreigners in Bulgaria

Bulgaria's Interior Ministry has published proposed changes to the law on foreigners. The long-term residence of foreigners in Bulgaria is legally up to 1 year and this is a status different from the right of long-term residence. It is proposed to limit the right of long-term residence for commercial representatives of foreign companies.
This is a form of covert migration that does not achieve the expected economic effects, but "creates an opportunity for people with a risk profile to enter the country," the proposals said.

The changes will limit the number of foreign sales representatives of one company to two and introduce a requirement for an annual turnover of the company over 250,000 euros.
