The average monthly salary in Bulgaria exceeds EUR 500

The average monthly salary in the country has exceeded BGN 1,000 (EUR 511) in all regions, indicate data of the Institute for Market Economics. However, there are still small municipalities with lower incomes where some population groups are at risk of poverty. 

The capital city Sofia tops the ranking with an average salary of BGN 2,300 (EUR 1,175), followed by Varna and Plovdiv. "The Northwest is an example of high income inequalities, while in Central Bulgaria,people living outside the disrict cities earn higher wages", economist Adrian Nikolov siad.
