Ukrainian An-12 cargo plane carrying explosives crashes near the town of Kavala

A Ukrainian Antonov An-12 cargo plane carrying dangeruos materials, mostly explosives, crashed on Saturday near the town of Kavala in Northern Greece. As a precaution because of the strong smell emanating from the crash site, a coordinating committee told inhabitants of the two localities closest to the crash site to keep their windows closed, to not leave their homes and to wear masks, Greek media report.

According to analysts from the Institute for the Study of War, Russian President Vladimir Putin may have ordered Russian forces to seize Kharkiv city, Ukraine’s second largest city, and the rest of unoccupied Kharkiv Oblast, despite the extreme improbability of success.

The G20 Finance Ministers meeting in Indonesia ended without a joint statement due to disagreements over the war in Ukraine, Reuters reports. International Monetary Fund Chief Kristalina Georgieva warned officials from the group of 20 major economies to take urgent action to combat inflation, warning that the “exceptionally uncertain” global economic outlook could turn worse if higher prices persisted.
