Railway transport in Bulgaria attracts more passengers; rising interest in Sofia-Istanbul line

In the first six months of 2022, nearly 10 million passengers traveled by train, BDZ have reported to Bgtourism.bg. For the same period of 2021, just over 8 million passengers traveled by train. Most often, trains are used for regional transport - commuting to work or school. During the summer tourist season, traditionally there is a significant rise in the number of passengers on the lines connecting the major cities in the country with the Black Sea. Interest in traveling by the international train Sofia-Istanbul is constantly high. Places for it are regularly sold out days before the actual trip.
