One in five tests for Covid-19 has returned positive in past day

1,274 is the number of new Covid-19 infections out of 5,999 tests performed in the country in the past 24 hours, 155 down on the previous day. More than two-thirds of the new infections are among the unvaccinated, the positivity rate is 21%, as against 21.8% on the day before, Single Coronavirus Information Portal data show.

The number of active cases registered in the country is down by 2236 to 20,471. The number of new hospital admissions in the past day is 122, of them 91 or 74.6% are among the unvaccinated. The number of patients being treated in hospital is down by 28 to 1,056, of them 57 are in intensive care.

Six patients with established coronavirus have died in the past day, four of them were not vaccinated. The number of recoveries reported is 3,504.

2,908 doses of vaccine have been administered in the past day. Out of the more than 2 million people who are vaccinated in Bulgaria, 846,000 have taken a booster shot, and over 52,000 – a second booster dose.
