The Day of Sofia started with a ceremony in front of the "St. Sophia" church and an official raising of the city's flag. "Sofia is the audacious free spirit and the ambition that we can do more and we can do it better", the capital's mayor Yordanka Fandakova said in her speech, pointing out that the capital is the only Bulgarian city that is growing.

The event was attended by members of the Municipal Council, Minister of Defense Dimitar Stoyanov, citizens and diplomats. The festive program for Sofia Day offers exhibitions, workshops for children, concerts, and a city tour "On the Path of Wisdom - Sofia". Visits to all municipal cultural institutes are free.
