The 114th anniversary of the proclamation of Bulgaria’s Independence was marked at Tsarevets fortress in Veliko Turnovo.

“Bulgarians set aside their political differences when they have a single purpose,” Vice President Iliana Iotova said at the ceremony. “Today’s greater purpose is to stop impoverishment, so there will be no suffering elderly people in the coming months, no unemployed parents who barely make ends meet, no children who cannot afford to go to school,” Vice President Iotova said.

Regarding the war in Ukraine, Iliana Iotova commented that the presidency is following all information very closely, and if need be the president will convene the National Security Council. “Panic is the worst kind of councilor in a situation such as this,” she said.
