The Bulgarian prosecutor's office will request the extradition of the Russian citizen who is supposed to be behind the cyber attack on the websites of 14 Bulgarian state institutions on Saturday, Desislava Petrova, spokesperson of the Sofia City Prosecutor's Office, told BNR. However, if the Russian authorities do not comply with the request, the investigation against the suspect will be conducted in absentia.

At the moment, prosecutors together with partner services are checking about 150 people for complicity in the hacker attack. A request for legal assistance is also due to be made to several countries because of the international element of the investigation.

Experts of the National Investigation Service have already identified the Russian region of Magnitogorsk as the first source of the attack. According to Desislava Petrova, the act took place through hundreds of infected computers, which may have been located in different parts of the world.
