A street in Bulgaria's capital Sofia was named after former US Ambassador to Bulgaria James Pardew (2002-2005). The US Ambassador to Bulgaria Herro Mustafa, Nancy Schiller, President and CEO of the America for Bulgaria Foundation and Sofia Mayor Yordanka Fandakova attended the ceremony.

Before coming to Sofia, James Pardew played a key role in the negotiations of the Dayton Peace Agreement in 1995 to end the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Pardew was also involved in drafting and signing another important agreement in the Balkans - the Ohrid Agreement, which marked the end of a year-long conflict in Macedonia in 2001, the BNT recalls.

James Pardew passed away in 2021 at the age of 77.
