The European Commission announced that at their weekly meeting on November 16, European commissioners will approve a new assessment of the measures taken by Bulgaria, Romania and Croatia to comply with Schengen rules. According to an EC spokesperson, the assessment will confirm that the three countries are ready to join the free movement area.

Bulgaria, Romania and Croatia have already received approval from the EC to join Schengen and the European Parliament has requested that these three countries join from 2023 and that the decision be adopted by the end of 2022. This issue will be voted on in the EU Council in early December, with unanimous support required for adoption.
