Bulgarians and Ukrainians chant "Murderers" and "This is not Moscow" in front of the Russian Church "Saint Nicholas" in Sofia. They are protesting against the visit of Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, who is acting as a foreign minister of the Moscow Patriarchate. The protesters blocked Russian ambassador Eleonora Mitrofanova in the church.
"We are protesting because this is ultimate insolence – those who occupy others came on the territory of an EU and NATO member state to hold a church service for the victory of Russia. This is just nonsense," Georgi Ivanov told BGNES.
According to the protesters, Anthony of Volokolamsk should not have been allowed on Bulgarian territory. He arrived at the invitation of Archimandrite Vassian, who is representative of the Russian patriarch in Sofia, after the meeting of the Valdai International Discussion Club in Kazan, where the Kremlin usually presents its policy to invited foreign guests.
