Bulgarian grain stays in the warehouses, producers warn

Photo: library

Grain producers from the region of Dobrich take massive loans from banks in order to pay the rents to land owners. The reason for this is the lack of buyers and the cost for storage of Bulgarian grain in warehouses. The cost of grain production has almost doubled and the expected price of seeds for 2023 is 40% higher. At the same time, there is no market for Bulgarian produce, chairman of the Regional Union of Agricultural Cooperatives in Dobrich, Kiril Komitov, warned.

According to him, there is no market for Bulgarian grain and nobody was buying it. Prices have also fallen. According to Komitov, at the beginning of next year, Ukraine is expected to start exporting corn, which would make the situation even more difficult for Bulgarian producers.
