Bulgaria’s Ministry of Interior is to launch a specialized operation against illegal migration and migrant smuggling together with the Turkish authorities. The operation will begin in the second week of January, caretaker Minister of Interior Ivan Demerdzhiev said in Parliament.

"We are planning to conduct the operation on Bulgarian territory simultaneously with the police operation that will take place in Turkiye. Thus, we will hit the groups that engage in this type of criminal activity," Minister Demerdzhiev said.
