Disabled people protest against shortcomings in medical expertise

People with disabilities came out to protest in front of the Council of Ministers. Their demands are for shorter delays in the delivery of decisions by the medical commissions and that secondary diseases are also taken into account, not only the main disease.

"Thousands of people cannot receive their disability pension because the time taken for certification is 3, 4, 5, and sometimes up to 11 months", explains Pavlina Grigorova, one of the organisers of the demonstration, speaking to BNR. She added that at present only one main illness is taken into account, which may deprive some people of their right to disability benefits.
