2,940 ancient coins were intercepted at the Kapitan Andreevo checkpoint and saved from smuggling on 12 June 2018 during a customs inspection of a truck driven by a Turkish citizen entering Bulgaria from Turkey.

The bronze coins are a collective find from the ancient city of Amisos, today Samsun, located on the eastern Black Sea coast of Turkey. The ancient coins depict Zeus, the goddess of victory Nike, the god of war Ares, also Athena, Dionysus and other deities.
