"Dark Faces" - a song for a good cause, by Alek Kirev

Alek Kirev's name came into the spotlight in the early 21st century when he was the driving force behind the band NEMO. In 2018, the band broke up, but in turn, this marked the beginning of his independent creative career. A few weeks ago Alek released his second solo album "Gravity". One of the 10 tracks on the playlist, "Dark Faces," is dedicated to the fight against domestic violence.

"You'll recognize them - their faces are dark, they have no light..."

The musician says the lighthearted sound of the song is deliberately in contrast to the serious message of the lyrics. The video for the song is also a kind of trailer for the documentary "Journey to Forgiveness" by script writer and director Yassen Grigorov. The video contains footage from Yassen Grigorov's family archive, shot by his father Grigor Grigorov, and features Asya Grigorova, the director's mother.

The creative team dedicates "Dark Faces" to abuse victims: "This song is an expression of our hope that we humans are capable of finding constructive ways to overcome our differences."

We are listening to "Dark Faces" by Alek Kirev.
