Kristalina Georgieva: Ukraine's economy should see a gradual recovery in 2023

Ukraine's economy should see a "gradual recovery" over the course of this year, International Monetary Fund Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva said in a statement. Kristalina Georgieva issued the statement in Warsaw, after her visit to Kyiv. US President Joe Biden is currently paying a visit to Poland after his surprise trip to the Ukrainian capital, the BNR’s reporter Marta Mladenova informed. 

Kristalina Georgieva called the work of Ukraine‘s institutions "remarkable". Georgieva said she was particularly impressed with the level of tax collection and efforts to keep inflation at bay. "I have seen a functioning economy despite the enormous challenges. Shops are open, services are available, people go to work". In her words, Ukraine's banking system is fully operational.
