Military training in schools will be entirely theoretical, Bulgaria’s Ministry of Defence said. Students will not acquire military qualifications, training or special skills. The deadline for public consultation on the draft regulation expired on March 31. The document states that students in 10th and 11th grades will have five hours of military training per school year.
Students will be taught theoretical knowledge on the defence of the homeland, the participation of the armed forces in rescue and evacuation missions, the provision of assistance to the population by the armed forces in crises of a military nature, etc. The training will be conducted by servicemen and civilians who have undergone methodical training.
The training had to start in 2021, but was suspended by the government until the entry into force of the regulation.
