The popular trumpeter, composer, music arranger and university teacher Mihail Yossifov brings together young musicians in the project "The Jazz News". The band is to present their debut album "First Issue" with a series of concerts in 7 Bulgarian towns - Sofia, Plovdiv, Stara Zagora, Burgas, Veliko Tarnovo, Varna and Ruse. The first two concerts are to be held on April 18 in Bee Bop Café (Plovdiv) and on April 29 in Sofia Live Club.
The album “First Issue” comprises 11 author’s vocal and instrumental compositions. Misho Yossifov authored two of the compositions. The rest are the work of young people who have been encouraged and supported by Misho Yossifov to create original music.
"The Jazz News" is a sextet featuring six young and talented musicians, including two outstanding vocals - Veleka Tsankova and Lachezar Katsarsky. Misho Yossifov gathers current and former students from the National Academy of Music "Prof. Pancho Vladigerov" to create a rich repertoire of jazz, blues, funk and Latin pieces.
Before the concert, we bring you one of the pieces included in the band's debut album "First Issue". The song "Moma sam, mari, 'aresal" clearly ilustrates the passion for Bulgarian folklore of young musician Kalina Andreeva, who authored the music, the lyrics and the arrangement.
