The European leaders will try to persuade Bulgaria to help provide Ukraine with ammunition, European Commission Vice President Věra Jourová stated, and added that there were no special measures or procedures, and that there were always methods of negotiating and convincing one country or another of the need to provide Ukraine with the weapons and ammunition it needs. Věra Jourová made this statement after the General Affairs Council in Brussels.

At the Council, Bulgarian Deputy Foreign Minister Velislava Petrova approved of the EU’s common position to continue the support for Ukraine in all spheres. “Ukraine’s view of the conditions for attaining peace is central,” she said.

On 31 May, the European Parliament will vote a draft bill to increase European production of ammunition and missiles. At the previous European Council in March, Bulgaria’s President Rumen Radev was firm that if it produces missiles by commission, Bulgaria will explicitly demand that they not be sent to Ukraine.
