Code orange for 15 districts in the country at risk of flooding

A hazardous weather code orange warning has been issued for 15 districts of the country where heavy rainfall is expected. According to the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology, precipitation will be most intense in western and central Bulgaria. 

Tonight, Sofia city emergency teams responded to 14 flood alerts in surrounding villages and neighborhoods. In the Novi Iskar district, the rainfall tonight was the most intense and the damage is substantialre was more damage.Heavy precipitation is expected in Vratsa district today.
The situation in Vratsa district remains at high risk in view of the expected heavy rainfall today. The village of Lilyache in this district is the worst affected by the floods, where most of the houses and infrastructure are damaged. Throughout the night, fire brigade and municipality teams ensured the safety of local residents and drained flooded buildings. A partial state of emergency was declared in four villages in Mezdra municipality.
The levels of rivers and dams in critical areas are being monitored. 

Today, Labour and Social Policy Minister Ivanka Shalapatova will visit the flood-hit municipalities of Berkovitsa and Etropole.
