In an official announcement on its website, the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs warns Bulgarians to avoid travelling to Russia because of the military tension in the Rostov region and the risk of unrest in the country.

"We warn Bulgarians to avoid the region where the actions are taking place. We remain available and monitor the situation in Russia minute by minute," Foreign Minister Mariya Gabriel told journalists in Veliko Tarnovo. According to her, the situation remains part of Russia's internal affairs for now.

"It is the president's decision whether to convene an Advisory Council for National Security," Gabriel added.

If assistance is needed, people can contact the Bulgarian Embassy in Moscow at phone number + 7 495 234 02 26.
