During the weekend, the Inter Expo Center in Sofia hosts workshops for haiku, Japanese calligraphy and sumi-e (ink painting). Lovers of Japanese art will be introduced to the techniques for painting iconic images for this art, such as cherry blossoms, as well as bamboo and lotus flowers.
In the calligraphy workshop, the main horizontal and vertical strokes used in Japanese writing art will be presented, as well as the three main styles: kaisho (standard style), gyosho (semi-cursive script) and sosho (cursive). For fans of classical haiku, there is also a workshop where they can learn about the structure of haiku, as well as some basic aesthetic principles and approaches when writing it.
Each participant has the opportunity to write a haiku inspired by the 4 seasons: Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter and participate in a haiku competition.
