In the municipality of Svilengrad, located near the borders with Turkey and Greece, a state of emergency has been declared by order of the mayor Atanas Karchev. The reason is the growing fire near the villages of Pastrogor and Mladinovo, which has covered an area of 10 thousand acres with a perimeter of 15 kilometers.

The state of emergency comes into effect today and will last until August 22.

13 fire-fighting teams, forest officials and volunteers joined the fight against the fire.

A high danger of fires has been declared for today in the Haskovo region.

The regional governor Ginka Raicheva introduced a ban on working in agricultural areas, clearing stubble and forest areas.
