In Athens, during the meeting on the Western Balkans, Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov talked to the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.
The Ukrainian president once again thanked PM Denkov for the aid Bulgaria has been rendering Ukraine. Nikolay Denkov stated that there is a Bulgarian government decision to send Ukraine 100 armoured personnel carriers from the stock of the Interior Ministry, and that to complete the procedure the decision has to be ratified by parliament. The Ukrainian president raised the question of coordinated efforts by the Black Sea members of NATO for ensuring security in the Black Sea. Ukraine is already conducting discussions on the matter with Turkey and Romania, Bulgaria has also been invited to join the debate. Volodymyr Zelensky also confirmed Ukraine’s interest in buying the two Bulgarian reactors from the Belene nuclear power plant project, which has been terminated, and all the equipment that goes with them. The Energy Ministry is currently evaluating the assets, the Bulgarian prime minister said. The equipment was manufactured by the Russian Rosatom atomic energy company.
It was stated at the meeting in Athens that the EU, Greece, the countries of the Western Balkans, Bulgaria, Romania and Moldova support the attainment of lasting peace in Ukraine on the basis of the peace plan of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Besides the leaders of the above countries, the event was also joined by the President of the European Council Charles Michel, the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Z|elensky.
