The first passenger airplane to have taken off from Israel after the terrorist attacks by the Islamist grouping Hamas has landed at Sofia Airport.

The government airbus took off for Tel Aviv at 6 AM this morning, immediately after being given permission by the Israeli authorities, to evacuate our compatriots, announced the government press service. Bulgaria’s Transport Minister Georgi Gvozdeikov is on board.

A group of around 50 Bulgarians were blocked at the airport in Tel Aviv yesterday. They were able to leave Palestine and transfer to Israel.

“All low-cost flights were cancelled and the passengers from them were left there. We heard explosions, we really feared for our lives,” said Kalina, one of the passengers who were able to return to Bulgaria.
