Olympic champion Alexander Zverev has cancelled his participation in the Sofia Open 2023 tournament from the ATP 250 series from November 4 to 11 this year, the organizers announced. The inclusion of the German tennis player became possible with a special permission from the ATP after the refusal of the eleventh in the world Francis Tiafoe and the nineteenth Ben Shelton.

Despite his desire to respect his fans in Bulgaria, Zverev withdrew his request at the last minute, at the decision of his coaching team. The coaches have decided that it is better for his efforts to be focused on his participation in the ATP Finals in Turin (November 12-19).

Alexander Zverev, who is currently ninth in the world ranking, was to play for the first time in Bulgaria.
