Court orders probe into machine vote in local election in Sofia

The sacks of paper slips from the machine vote in Sofia must be opened, the administrative court in Sofia has ruled

The ruling is in connection with the contestation of the results from the election for mayor of Sofia, with winner Vasil Terziev (PP/DB, Save Sofia) by Vanya Grigorova (BSP for Bulgaria and coalition), who came out second with a margin of less than 5,000 votes. Only the final aggregated slips from the machines will be taken out of the sacks, there will be no hand-counting for now. The court also endorsed a detailed expert report to establish whether there are any tally sheet violations. The report must be ready by 1 December.
