Bulgaria's government sets 13 objectives for modernisation of the country's armed forces

Purchase of new radars, anti-ship missile complexes, high-mobility system of volley fire, 155 mm howitzers and new helicopters - these are part of the 13 priority projects for the modernization of the Bulgarian army until 2032, said BNR’s reporter Dobromir Videv. They are presented for discussion in the Parliamentary Defense Committee.

The infrastructure for the formations in Kabyle, Yambol region, that will be part of NATO's enhanced vigilance system, as well as the construction and modernization of the military port in Varna, are expected to be completed by 2027.

The modernization of Bulgaria's army will cost EUR 4.8 billion. The budget of the Ministry of Defense will be the main source of funding. Funding will also be sought from European and NATO programmes.
