Bulgarian community in Los Angeles receives new recognition from the LA City Council

Los Angeles City Council marks the 120th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and USA

At an open meeting of the Los Angeles City Council, the Consul-General of Bulgaria in Los Angeles Boyko Hristov received an official certificate on behalf of the City of Angels on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and the United States.

The document notes the lasting friendship, mutual respect and cooperation between the two nations over the years. It also emphasizes the importance of the Bulgarian diaspora in Los Angeles and the essential role of the Consulate General of the Republic of Bulgaria in LA in promoting cultural exchange and strengthening the bonds of friendship between the two peoples, who together strive for global peace, security and prosperity, reads an information sent to Radio Bulgaria by the team of the Consul-General in LA.

The document was presented to Boyko Hristov by Traci Park, LA City Councilwoman and friend of the Bulgarian community. Notable Bulgarians in Los Angeles, including representatives of the Bulgarian Orthodox church St George, the Bulgarian Foundation for Arts, Culture, and Education (BgFACE), the Bulgarian-American Cultural and Educational Foundation (BACEF), and other members of the Bulgarian diaspora also attended the ceremony.

In November 2023, in the presence of Deputy Premier Mariya Gabriel, Hollywood actor Jon Voight was bestowed with the Special Award of ‎the Consul of Bulgaria in the USA during the ceremony where the ‎awards for education, science, art and culture of the BgFACE foundation were handed out.
