Lies and Truths... Sleng presents a new video

SLNG (Sleng) is one of the bands that shaped the landscape of contemporary Bulgarian pop music in the early years of the new millennium. After the untimely death of frontman Dimi Ekimov in 2008, the band called it quits, only to regroup with a new line-up a few years later. Vladimir Mihailov, best known as the lead singer of Safo and an accomplished songwriter, has been SLNG's vocalist for over a decade.

It was Vladi who wrote the music and lyrics for Sleng's latest song, "Lies and Truths", the video for which will have its official premiere tonight, March 28, at a club in the Sofia Library building. For the first time, the musicians will perform their new single live, as well as some of their emblematic hits.

Apart from being a singer and songwriter, Vladi Mihaylov is also a very popular TV and film actor. He recruited his co-stars from the hit TV series "Brothers" - Martin Dimitrov, Radoslav Vladimirov and Sara Draguleva - to shoot the video for the song. The young artists have decided to donate their royalties from the video to charity.According to Vladi Mihailov, the song conveys a message, focusing on how social networks divide us by providing a comfortable space for expressing hatred and undermining the beliefs of others. Musically, the song's sound is meant to be a tribute to the 1980s, says Sleng drummer Alex Lazarov:

"There is a pattern emerging at the moment that affects us in some way. Of course it has its roots in the 80s and 90s, not just in rock music. And in fact, in our new song "Lies and Truths" the 80's signature is most evident. We wanted to meticulously, rigorously embody that 80s spirit in this song. And of course, since it's coming out in 2024, there's no way it won't have a modern influence. So you'll see the result of this hybrid that we did in "Lies and Truths". We're very happy with it.
